Higher Power
While the term Higher Power is used in Higher Power Over FoodSM, it is not affiliated with any twelve step program. Aside from the spiritual aspects of this work, the term Higher Power gives people of different beliefs the flexibility to use their name for the Divine that fits their understanding or tradition.
Your Higher Power is always available to help set you free from the cycle of emotional eating. On the topic of emotional eating, let’s take a look at what keeps the cycle going.
During our lifetime, sometimes as early as the womb, we have inadvertently picked up and stored wrong beliefs about ourselves. From a spiritual perspective, these wrong beliefs are burdens upon the soul. Science tells us these beliefs are often below the level of consciousness, buried in our cellular memory. Regardless of viewpoints, these wrong beliefs are destructive and are triggered every time we experience a stressful situation, such as those described on the home page of this site. It also explains why using willpower to change old patterns doesn’t work.
On a human level, it would seem an impossible task to access and change these destructive memories. But you have available a Source that is beyond human that can do just that: Your Higher Power.
You are always in relationship with your Higher Power, and when you gain the knowledge and the skills to broaden your relationship, you can create the life you desire.
